Room by Room Crystal Lighting Ideas

If you are looking for great lighting ideas for each specific room of your house, here are some great tips that should help you out!

The Living Room:

One great idea for the living room is to have one main source of ambient lighting in the top center of the room, possibly a chandelier. You can also have a prized possession highlighted as a focal point of the room by adding some accent lighting to it a little brighter than the rest of the room. Accent lights can also be used to highlight display shelves and special portions of the room. Behind each couch section, you can place a small lamp for reading for individuals. Multi light pendants are also good for your main source of light in a living room.

The Kitchen:

One main source of ambient lighting from the top center can be your main source of light. Task lighting can go all over the place, but a few main places stand out: the stove top and the sink and range. You can also use track lighting underneath the counters to give it a nice overall effect (especially if you use dimmers).

The Dining Room:

This is probably the most appropriate place to put a chandelier to provide ambient lighting. A chandelier with a dimmer will work best, especially if in some situations you prefer dimmer lighting for a more romantic occasion. Track lighting also works as the main source of light if you are not a fan of chandeliers. If you have display cabinets that are quite common in the dining area, track lighting within will highlight your prized possessions inside.

Bedrooms:

For bedrooms, usually a bright lamp works for the overall ambiance lighting of the room. Small lamps on nightstands are perfect for everyone, as they can use them for late night reading or work they have to do without waking anyone else who might be in the room. Avoid halogen lamps, as they can get very hot (especially in children’s rooms where they are more prone to burning themselves accidentally).

Types of Crystal Lighting for the Home

If you want your house to look nice, you really want to make sure your lighting is done correctly. Interior designers agree that using the correct amount and appropriate lighting will make or break any room of your home. If you can recognize the different types of lights and what they are used for, you will have no problem at all picking out the lighting fixtures you want for your home. There are three main types of lighting for your home:

Lighting Type #1) Ambient Lighting – This type of lighting is meant to look like it is not coming from a particular source; it is instead lingering and somehow everywhere at once. This does not mean it is necessarily bright or dim, just that it is evenly distributed throughout the area. There is no glare with this type of lighting and everything in the room can be seen well. Make sure you have central ambient lighting in every room of your house as an essential part of your lighting plan. They are generally found in chandeliers, central ceiling lights, or large lamps.

Lighting Type #2) Task Lighting – This type of lighting is more more focused and only meant to illuminate a small area in particular. Some examples of places where you would use task lighting are on the kitchen counter, on a desk when you are working at night, or maybe on your nightstand when you are reading at night. These types of lamps are great for when you are trying to keep the rest of the room unlit (in case someone else is trying to sleep, etc.). They are only meant to illuminate one small area, so they are usually in the form of small attached lights or small lamps.

Lighting Type #3) Accent Lighting – This type of lighting is meant to highlight a certain piece of the room for dramatic effect. It is usually used to highlight something in particular; some examples include paintings, photos, statues, plants, or other decorative pieces. To work effectively, the light should be roughly three times as bright as the ambient lighting. Track lighting, smaller wall mounted lights, or directed lamps usually provide this type of lighting.
